Garfield Thomas Haywood was an African-American pastor and song writer who served as Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World from 1925 to 1931. Haywood composed many gospel songs including “Jesus, the Son of God”, “I See a Crimson Stream of Blood”, and “Do All in Jesus’ Name” and published many books.

He was born in 1960 in Virginia, where he currently resides. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a law degree from the University of Virginia. He practiced law for nine years in Washington, D.C., as both a trial and corporate attorney.
